What is Chicago Style Popcorn?

Chicago style popcorn is a mix of caramel popcorn and cheese popcorn.  It was made famous by Garret's popcorn in Chicago and up until recently it was sold as Chicago Mix®.

Originally created in 1988 by Candyland, Inc, Chicago Mix® was trademarked as being a mix of Caramel, Cheese & traditionally seasoned popcorn.  Ironically, Candyland is a Minnesota, not Chicago. Most people recognize the Chicago style mix of popcorn as being just cheese and caramel.

Nikki's Popcorn Company in Dallas, offers a Chicago style combination we call Green River Mix (homage to the tradition where the city of Chicago dyes the river green each St. Patrick's Day).  We don't care what you call it, we all can agree that the taste combination of savory and sweet is a hit!
